Congratulations to Dr. Stephen Shiring

We would like to congratulate Dr. Stephen Shiring on successfully defending his Ph.D. Dr. Shiring joined the graduate program in 2012 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and had a brief stay at KAUST in Saudi Arabia during his time here at Georgia Tech. Dr. Shiring’s research (thesis (title: A Computational Investigation into the Third-Order Nonlinear Optical Properties of Cyanine-like Polymethines for All-Optical Switching Applications”) helped provide the framework for understanding the unique properties of materials made and characterized by his collaborators in the Marder and Perry laboratories. His list of Georgia Tech publications are shown below.

Dr. Shiring will continue his career as a postdoc with Prof. Brett Savoie at Purdue, studying aggregation phenomena of organic semiconductor materials. We are very proud of Stephen and look forward to following him on the next stage in his exciting career!
